2026 Medicare Adjustments Are Released
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released the 2026 Medicare related adjustments on November 14, 2025
On November 14, 2025, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2026 amounts for premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance under Medicare Parts A and B plus part D income related monthly adjustment amounts (IRMAA).
The standard Medicare Part B monthly premium will finally pass the $200 level at $202.90, up $17.90 from 2025. The initial thought was the increase would be about $11 higher, but the final number was a lower due to some changes in reimbursements, etc.
The annual deductible increases by $26 to $283.
Medicare Part A covering hospital stays sees the deductible increase by $60 to $1,736.
Part B Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amounts (IRMAA)
The 2026 Part B total monthly premiums for high-income beneficiaries with full Part B coverage are structured based on MAGI, as follows:
The part D monthly premium has also been income-based since 2011 and the final income related monthly adjustment amounts are as follows:
This means that a married couple with MAGI over $750,000 will owe $780.90 for each person covered by Medicare Part B and D.
Many people view these increases as an extra tax, but the reality is that no one pays the full Medicare premium. Rather, each person receives a discount on their premium and higher income taxpayers just receive a lower discount (but most people view it as a tax).
