Congress Continues to Push Administration on Section 45Z

A bipartisan letter to the administration continues to push for better guidance on Section 45Z SAF tax credits

A group of Congress people sent another letter to the administration last week urging additional guidance from the administration regarding Section 45Z fuel and SAF tax credits.

They urge an expediting of the guidance; however, the Inflation Reduction Act only requires the administration to issue guidance by December 31, 2024, since the credit does not start until January 1, 2025.

Our concern is with a national election coming in November will there be any incentive for the administration to issue any new guidance. Any guidance issued before November is likely to make at least some interested parties unhappy, therefore, the administration likely feels it is better to wait until after the election.
