House Passes Disaster Part of Tax Bill
The House passed a carved portion of the Tax Bill dealing with disaster provisions. It may actually pass the Senate.
The Federal Disaster Tax Relief bill provisions was included as part of the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act that has been stalled in the Senate for many months.
Since the provision was stalled, the House was able to pass this Act yesterday on a 382-7 vote and it is now at the Senate. Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) appears to have no issue with having this bill pass through the Senate.
However, the main Act still appears to be dead on arrival in the Senate. Senator Wyden (D-OR) still has hopes of getting it passed, but unless Senator Shumer (D-NY) is able to get at least 10 Republicans to vote with him, it is going nowhere.
We will keep you posted.
