House Releases Details on Possible New Base Acres
The House proposal releases details on how the new base acre proposal will work.
The Republican House Ag Committee released details on their Farm Bill proposal last Friday.
One of the proposals allows farmers who either do not have base acres or have planted more acres than they have base to increase their base acres. The House Ag Committee provided a fact sheet on this proposal.
Here are some of the key details:
The review of these base acres will be based on the average plantings from 2019-2023.
If total elected base acres exceed 30 million acres on a national basis, then a pro-rata allocation will be made to all elected base acres. This results in a maximum 30 million base acre increase.
