We are guessing that extra aid will be offered to farmers perhaps being announced this week. Likely it will be at least $10 billion which is on top of the $10 billion paid via ECAP and up to $20 plus billion of disaster relief aid.
If we get $10 billion more now plus another up to $15 billion next October 2026 at what point do other manufacturing companies say “ where is our aid due to tariffs?”.
Plus, we need to make sure that our specialty crop producers of fruits, vegetables and nuts receive appropriate aid since for many of these crops, tariffs and reduction in exports have hit them worse than soybeans, corn or wheat.
Remember, farmers likely are going to receive the following amounts per acre from ARC and PLC next year:
Corn - $60+
Soybeans - $25+
Wheat - $40+
Rice - $200+
Sorghum - $50+
On a personal note, my farms will receive payments for corn, wheat, soybeans and some legumes and I must admit I will not turn it down, but we do worry about the effect of getting so much aid and how this may affect needed reforms down the road.
We shall wait and see and keep you posted.
