IRS Announces Relief for Severe Storms and Tornados in Iowa
IRS grants filing and paying relief to taxpayers in certain Iowa counties for storms incurred on April 26, 2024.
Severe storms or tornados happened on April 26, 2024, in the following Iowa counties:
Clarke,
Harrison,
Mills,
Polk,
Pottawattamie,
Ringgold,
Shelby, and
Union
Any deadline falling on or after April 26, 2024, through October 15, 2024, will now officially have an October 15, 2024, deadline.
This applies to any required quarterly estimated tax payments that would be due on June 15 and September 15 are now due on October 15.
Any quarterly payroll tax return normally due on April 30 or July 31 are postponed to this date too.
Additional severe storms and tornados hit Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and other states within the last few weeks. They will likely get this additional time to file returns and pay taxes too.
