Last week was an interesting travel week. Sunday I flew to Washington DC and then drove up to Lancaster, PA to do two days of speaking with Roger McEowen. Tuesday night I flew back to Denver with no issues.
On Wednesday, I spoke all day virtually and then drove to the Denver airport to fly to Pasco, Washington to speak all day on Thursday. I got to the airport with plenty of time to spare to just end up sitting an extra two hours waiting for pilots to show up. United Airlines had issues with their national weights and balance computer and the delay was that long.
Friday morning I drove out to Dixie, Washington area to ride combine with my cousins. Their field was about two miles from where I grew up as the crow flies and they had just started the first cut as I got to the field.
I rode for a while and then my cousin turned the combine over to me to operate which I did for about the next two hours. Luckily, no breakdowns and I did not spill too much grain dumping on the go (just a little).
It was not very steep, likely the steepest ground might have hit 30 percent and it was good to get my combine therapy in.
After lunch I rode over to where my fields are on the other side of Dixie and rode for a few hours with the operator.
Finally, off to Walla Walla to have dinner with some friends and then flew into Denver Saturday morning to meet my family to fly to San Diego for a weeks vacation (a two-year old granddaughter can make it hectic).
Here is a short video of me operating the combine (my cousin was trying to get a close up of the yield monitor which was at about 138, likely the field average was around 120).
