Senator Stabenow (D-MI) released her draft of the Farm Bill yesterday and based on the reports we have read it appears that it is highly unlikely that this version will be enacted this year or any other year, especially with both the Senate and the House in Republican hands next year.

There are a few more items that caught our attention that we will review in today’s post.

First, the bill indicates that the effective reference price would be calculated using a simple five-year average instead of the Olympic average under current rules. We have calculated what the 2024 effective reference price would be using a simple average as per the following table:
