Supplemental Disaster Relief Program Will Begin Next Monday July 7
It appears that the SDRP will begin on Monday
It appears that the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) will allow farmers to start signing up for the disaster relief program next Monday.
Likely the local office is getting training on the details of the program this week, so we suggest waiting until next Monday before you call the local office. As of right now, they likely know as much about the details of the program as we do which is not much.
This go round will be for producers who utilized crop insurance as part of their risk management. RMA and FSA will jointly review those policies to see which producers may qualify for an additional payment under SDRP.
It is our current understanding that only yield losses will qualify for a disaster payment. Therefore, if you received a crop insurance indemnity payment solely based on a drop in price, do not expect any type of payment under SDRP.
Also, we continue to hear complaints about those with lower levels of coverage receiving a greater payment. Remember, those with higher coverage levels received a larger payment in 2023 or 2024 than those with lower levels. In total, the higher your coverage level, the more you will receive (also assuming some type of premium reimbursement).
As we get details on the program, we will provide an additional blog post.
