The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) authorizes a 30 million increase in base acres. Remember you are paid on base acres not planted acres and currently there are about 240-245 million enrolled base acres.

What Are Base Acres?

In simple terms, base acres represent the historical planting record tied to a specific farm. As of September 30, 2013, these acres became locked in for program purposes, though they’ve been subject to various adjustments over the years. The system covers 22 commodities, ranging from staples like corn, wheat, and soybeans to specialty crops like crambe, sesame, and mustard seed.
