Watch Out for This IRS Scam
Criminals trying to "fish" for personal data continue to get more accomplished in their scams. The attached scam came to my son and I am glad he contacted me before phoning to get his refund.
My son texted me yesterday asking if he should call the IRS to get his refund. As you can see on the attached photo, the scammers are getting even more professional in how they send out information.
If my son had called the “IRS”, they would ask for certain personal information that they would then use to steal my son’s identity.
If you get something like this in your email, don’t call the number.
As you can see from the photo, there are various things that let you know it is a scam. For example, it indicates they have received your return for fiscal year 2023. Those returns are not even due yet. The third round of economic impact payments was back in 2021. There are several other items that lead you to know it is a scam but for the average person this looks correct.
The bottom line is be careful if you ever get an email or text from the “IRS”.
