What do You Mean I am Not a Farmer

Under the FARM Act a "farmer" qualifies for an extra payment ceiling. Most farmers will not qualify.

The Farmer Assistance and Revenue Mitigation (FARM) Act allows for a maximum payment of $175,000 per person/per entity. However, if the entity or individual is a farmer, then the payment ceiling increases to $350,000.

The definition of a farmer is in the FSA handbooks. We typically find this in Handbook 6PL, but other handbooks sometimes have the same definitions.

The following items of income are included as farm income under these definitions (these are all net income items, not gross income):
