Section 45Z was passed as part of the Inflation Reduction Act back in 2022. It is scheduled to start January 1, 2025, and will last for three years, unless extended. The law indicated that the Administration would release guidance on this credit by December 31, 2024.

However, we have heard from Secretary of Ag Vilsack that guidance may not be released until January 2025.
